About Mercari.com Prices and Cost?
Mercari.com is a marketplace where listing an item is always free. Fees are charged when an item sells or when a service is used. Starting from March 27, 2024, a service fee is charged to the buyer at the time of purchase. The amount of the fee is displayed as part of the final price of the item on the checkout page. This fee may not be refunded, depending on the reason for a return.
From March 27, 2024, the selling fee for new listings is 0%. Listings created before this date are subject to a selling fee of 10% of the item price when a sale is completed unless the listing has been updated on or after March 27, 2024.
Mercari also incurs fees related to payment processing and balance withdrawals out of the system by financial services partners. Some of these service fees are charged to the users. A Payment Processing Fee of 2.9% plus $0.50 per sale is charged to the seller based on the completed sale plus shipping price of the item. This fee is only charged on completed transactions.
There are two ways to cash out earnings from the Mercari balance. Direct Deposit has a $2 non-refundable fee per cash-out. This transaction is typically processed within 5 business days depending on the bank’s processing times. Instant Pay is the fastest way to get paid when extra cash is needed. There is a $3 flat fee per cash-out. In some cases, depending on the bank’s processing time, it can take up to 30 minutes to see the balance in the bank account.
For shipping, Mercari offers prepaid labels that are up to 39% off retail carrier rates for standard and economy rates. Shipping costs are based on the total size and weight of the package. For example, a small package up to 1 lb costs $6.99, a medium package up to 5 lb costs $8.99, and a large package up to 40 lb costs $50.00. The sellers are asked to ship the item within 3 business days of sale.
About Mercari.com Popular Products and Services?
Mercari is a popular marketplace that makes it easy to sell and buy almost anything. It's a perfect place to declutter and discover items that are uniquely you. The platform is known for its wide range of categories including Women, Men, Electronics, Toys, Gaming, Handbags, Home, Vintage, Beauty, Kids, Sports, Handmade, Office, Pet, Outdoor, Tools, and Books.
Top brands like Apple, Sony, Nike, Nintendo, Funko, Pokemon, and Loungefly can be found on the platform. The service itself allows users to sell things they no longer need, have outgrown, or never used in the first place. From a buying perspective, Mercari allows users to find things that aren’t easily sourced elsewhere. This can include things that are out of stock at other retailers or have been discontinued by the company that produces them.
The best-selling items on Mercari include Apparel, Vintage Items, Electronics, Homeware and Décor, Health and Beauty, Collectibles, Hobbies, and Games and Toys. Vintage goods are particularly popular, with products like vinyl records, ceramic decorations, jewelry, old comic books, mugs, and drinkware often selling well.
Mercari sets itself apart from its competitors by offering no-contact transactions. All bought items are shipped to customers, and Mercari processes all payments between buyers and sellers, giving both parties added assurance. Any issues can be looked into, investigated, and resolved by the Mercari customer support team.
Can I use Mercari in other countries?
Yes, Mercari can be used in other countries. It has expanded into 100+ countries through cross-border sales from Japan. This is made possible through a partnership with Buyee, a proxy service for cross-border e-commerce. Users overseas can browse and search items listed on Mercari in Japanese, English, and Chinese (traditional and simplified), and purchase items using popular overseas payment methods, such as PayPal, Alipay, and UnionPay. However, for Mercari US, they don't ship internationally. But with services like forwardme.com, you can easily shop from Mercari US and ship your items internationally. Please note that some categories of items may not be available for cross-border sales.
